Tis The Season To Return To The Shop

With farming more or less winding down for the season it’s time to return to shop and catch up on some projects. Quite a bit has changed over the last summer, we’ve added a few new treasures to the fleet and a few new tools to the shop. So let’s dive in and I will share some of the new additions.

Meet Trapper, our new 1963 Willys Jeep CJ5. This little guy is a real peach, been tucked away in a garage for over 25 years. All stock with great accessories such as Koenig Iron Works PTO winch, complete hardtop and overdrive. This little guy needs some freshening up but boy oh boy is it fun to drive. I will spend tomorrow re-organizing the shop so it can spend the winter in the corner where I can tinker on it between projects. Can’t wait to load up my vintage camping gear and go on an expedition with this little one.

Up next is this early 1950 Willy’s pickup that at this time has no name. Rules for naming will come another day. Like many Willy’s pickups, it’s been used and abused. Remember, they were the first mainstream factory built 4×4 pickups and they found themselves getting worked pretty hard and this one is no exception. It has an interesting flatbed that won’t be staying and small block Ford V-8 that appears to have been swapped well. Still don’t know much about this one, its still on the trailer, so we haven’t figured out its personality just yet. Once the “weekend project Scout” that Ive been putting off for two years is done, the kids and I will drag it in, toss in a battery and see what happens.

Still in the fleet is Dualis, our 2006 F350 6.0 dually. I will own this darn thing for ever. This summer we added a service bed type canopy that has proven it self to be very handy. This pickup is instrumental in moving the treasures around and hauls the family as well. With just over 765,000 miles on the ticker, it still has a lot to give.

Next post I’ll give an update on the Scouts, yes plural, Scouts. Still have the 1961 here to finish, photos and videos to come, and about to close the deal on another 1961 Scout from Wyoming with an interesting history.

Soon the shop will be ready for tour so you can see what can be done with 1000 square feet. Stay subscribed and follow along!
