Who needs all these tools? Me!

Being a car guy definitely comes with some side affects. Today I only want to talk about one, Tools.

Yes, tools are a basic necessity in the hobby, let’s just try not to let it get out of hand.

I was granted my first Snapon Tools revolving truck account at 15 years old. Until I hit about 40, I always seemed to have an account.

Quality tools are not only an investment that you can hand down to your children but they are also a wear item that needs to be maintained just like the item they are working on. They also need to be able to operate as described when called upon.

I have tools in my box that were my fathers and some were even my grandfathers. Taking care of them, keeping them clean and put away will ensure they will last long enough to had down to my children or grandchildren.

Many years ago, my older brother and I operated a shop and service truck business together. There I learned that I didn’t need to own everything, I could just borrow from him what I needed. He taught me “If you need to borrow it 3 times, it’s time to buy it”. That rule still stands in the shop I work in now.

Moving forward, buy quality, try to buy American and try to buy from a dealer or store with history. I own many “lifetime warranty” tools that no longer have a company left to service them.

I’ll make a shop/tool tour soon and go over the top tools I think everyone needs to have to get started.

Now go out side build something. Please subscribe.
